On a snowy Friday night following an 84-degree day (only in Denver, right?), we welcomed back fan-favorite guest, producer, beatmaker, and all-around solid dude—Fat Trak! He brought along some seriously adorable music created by his students, plus he blessed us with two exclusive unreleased tracks he finished just the night before.

Tony admits he loves to freestyle to Fat Trak’s beats… so naturally, Fat calls him out to drop a verse on the spot. Did Tony deliver? Well, you’ll have to listen and judge for yourself. Let us know in the comments!

Fat also shares some stories from his recent trip to Japan, where he went digging for records—and explains how those finds are shaping his upcoming release. We sat down the great Dean Wilson who was originally on Episode 63 many years ago. Dean Wilson is a native to Denver, Colorado, where has been actively involved in the local music scene. He completed a degree in Classical Music Composition with Guitar Emphasis and Choral Concentration at Metropolitan State University of Denver. Recently, he has been creating some truly unique paintings and brought a couple into the studio. In this episode he talked a lot about what it was like growing up in a family-run funeral home. Crazy stories! Couch guy also joined us in studio this week and told a shocking story about Third Bridge here in Colorado. An absolutely fascinating conversation!

We talked about his early days building a name for himself in the Denver music scene, growing up in Colorado, working in radio, touring nationally & internationally, how he got started in education, why he built the Denver DJ Chonz Foundation, what it was like to DJ a private party for Dr. Dre, wrestling, and much much more! Today, with 30 years of experience, he's the most recognizable DJ in Colorado and surrounding states. Over the years, he led the station to No. 1 rankings in various categories, including afternoon and night hosts for the 18-34 demographic from 2009 to 2011 locally and nationally in 2012.
He's won numerous awards from Denver's alt-weekly Westword's "Best of …" issues, including Best Hip-Hop DJ, Best Denver Radio, and Best Online Radio show for a daily mix he streamed live on the internet. He was also awarded Best Afternoon Show from the Colorado Broadcast Awards in 2010.

DJ Chonz continues to dominate the nightclub scene with several weekly events in Denver. When he's not on the road or in the studio, giving back to the community is essential to DJ Chonz, especially when he can lead young people to find positive life direction through music. "There are many genres of music," Chonz says. "I am fortunate to be able to play all formats. This allows for growth as a person and as a DJ. A DJ's job is to cater to a crowd and play what's relevant to them. That's what I do."
