Episode 261: Rubber Bullets, Comment Sections, and Playoff Dreams

January 18, 2026 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Conversational, Denver, Entertainment, Life, Podcast, Politics, Sports

Tony wipes out on his bike (he’s fine… mostly), we realize our old hair and clothing choices were objectively wild, and then things take a turn. We talk real division in the country, ICE, rubber bullets, questionable vetting, and Trump continuing to say things that feel like Mad Libs gone wrong. Tony is officially undefeated in the comment section and is (probably) retiring before it gets ugly.

From there it’s Bears vs. Rams, brutal Chicago cold, and why Tony is weirdly at peace no matter how this season ends (Mike remains emotionally trapped as a Cowboys fan - Thank God for Duke!). We break down playoff predictions, elite defenses (Denver 👀), and why birds breathing is honestly one of nature’s strangest flexes. Plus: Rogan talk, Nuggets praise, an overpriced but elite new basketball, a Kidgee shoutout, and a WOOT WOOT for next week’s guests Michael Patti and Cameron Schuyler.

Chaos. Sports. Science. Growth. Kind of. 🎙️🏈🦅

Cheers!

Episode 260: Bars, Brains & Bipolar — A Real One with Terrell Matheny

January 11, 2026 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Community, Conversational, Denver, Entertainment, Family, Life, Music, Podcast, Politics

This week we sit down with Terrell Matheny — entertainer, rapper, singer, actor, filmmaker, and all-around creative Swiss Army knife. And instead of just doing the usual highlight-reel interview, Terrell keeps it real… like really real.

We talk about:
• The grind behind being multi-talented (and why it’s both a blessing and a curse)
• Creativity, identity, and what happens when your brain never hits the off switch
• Mental health, bipolar disorder, and why honesty beats pretending you’re “fine”
• The difference between chasing validation and chasing purpose
• And how turning pain into art can be both healing and terrifying

There are laughs, heavy moments, thoughtful pauses, and the kind of honesty you don’t always get when the mics are on — but we got it anyway.

No fake hype. No polished PR answers. Just a genuine conversation with someone who isn’t afraid to talk about the messy stuff and the magic.

Hit play, get comfortable, and ride with us on this one.
🎧🔥

Cheers!

Episode 259 – New Year, Same Us (But With Bigger Pants)

January 04, 2026 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Community, Conversational, Denver, Entertainment, Life, Music, Podcast

It’s the first episode of 2026, and the boys are back… slightly rounder, slightly wiser, and wildly unprepared for athletic endeavors.

Tony’s coming off a long break and mentally bracing himself to return to work, while Mike reflects on his wholesome (and surprisingly heroic) holiday tradition—inviting people over for Christmas and offering rides to anyone stranded on New Year’s Eve. Basically, Mike might be an actual angel.

We cover moving horror stories and make one thing crystal clear:
👉We are officially too old to move our friends.
Hire someone. Prepare. Stretch. Don’t call us. Actually... maybe you can call Mike.

New Year’s resolutions are on the table:
• Tony’s been cooking and baking… unfortunately, in a way that screams future diabetes and heart disease, so he’s pivoting to a healthier lane.
• Mike’s getting organized and diving into a serious body recomp.
• Both of us admit the holidays hit hard. Time to clean it up.

From there, things get weird (as usual):
We unpack the absurd ideas we blindly inherit from our parents, dive into real crime stories (why is it always the quiet close ones?!), and marvel at how some people commit elaborate crimes… then Google “how to get rid of a body” like absolute amateurs.

Also in this episode:
• Mike takes a ChatGPT master class 🤯
• Wild Olympic sports that almost made it
• Fast walkers apparently live longer (Tony expected to live forever—smoke coming off those sneakers)
• And the surprisingly beautiful fact that choir singers’ heartbeats synchronize when they sing together

New year. Same chaos. Let’s go.

Cheers!

Episode 257: Painting Big, Thinking Bigger with Amanda Danae Hilsabeck

December 22, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Community, Conversational, Denver, Entertainment, Family, Life, Music, Podcast

This week on The Mike & Tony Show, we welcome Amanda Danae Hilsabeck — muralist, marketing advisor, and creative force behind Mighty Fine Artistry — who somehow also proves (once again) that Mike knows everyone and will randomly run into them in places that make no sense.

Amanda takes us through her journey from jaw-dropping, hyper-realistic pet portraits (seriously… they’re unfairly good) to large-scale murals and what she calls “mural activation” — where art meets branding and businesses actually learn how to use their murals instead of just… having them. From a massive American flag mural in a gym to an emotional family portrait of people who’d never all been together at once, her work is both impressive and meaningful.

She also brought her hetero lifemate Aubrey, who is quietly hilarious and jumps into the mix as we spiral into conversations about perfectionism (Tony feels very seen), why unfinished art and songs haunt your soul, and why Victor, Colorado suddenly sounds like somewhere we all need to move immediately.

Elsewhere in this episode:

  • Mike ties (and wears) his first-ever bow tie thanks to YouTube

  • We talk gyms, workouts, and health-tracking devices judging us silently

  • Sports talk hits all the majors: football, basketball, baseball

  • Chipotle and Starbucks are both adding protein menus… which raises questions

  • We debate whether the 1970s might be the greatest music decade ever (yes, Karen Carpenter enters the chat)

  • And we wrap it all up with our Top Five Christmas Songs, because why not?

Art, marketing, music, murals, muscle, and mild chaos — this one’s got range.

👉 Follow Amanda: @mightyfineartistry

Episode 256: Grey Beards, Wrapped Flexes, and Exposed Intestines

December 14, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Community, Conversational, Denver, Entertainment, Podcast

Tony’s bike stayed parked this week thanks to Mother Nature (moment of silence).
His beard, however, remains 100% undyed — and will stay that way forever. Yes, we spent an appropriate amount of time discussing our greying hair like the distinguished elders we are.

Then it’s Spotify Wrapped season, baby.
We share our personal Wrapped confessions before diving into The Mike and Tony Show’s 2025 Wrapped — and let’s just say… things are looking up for us:
• More shares than 89% of shows
• Longer listening time than 83%
• Higher ratings than 75%
• Top 20% of Spotify video podcasts
• Listenership up 557% this year

We shout out our top episode, our international listeners (what’s up Germany, Israel, Australia, Canada 👀), and take a peek at what YOU listen to — from Morgan Wallen to Kendrick Lamar, JRE to Tucker Carlson.

Somewhere along the way, we also cover:

AI videos getting scarier, Will Smith chaos, tarantulas living with frogs, coconut crabs that could absolutely murder you, reindeer that turn into X-Men in winter, Skynet (probably not… but also maybe), and how tiny and insignificant our planet really is. Fun stuff.

And just when you think it’s safe to relax… Tony ends the show with a historical medical story so unhinged we probably should’ve saved it for Halloween.

You’ve been warned. 🎙️😬

Thank you for all the love and support this year!

Cheers!

Episode 255 – The Day-After-Thanksgiving Hang

December 07, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Community, Conversational, Denver, Entertainment, Family, Life, Music, Podcast, Sports

Fresh off the turkey hangover, Mike and Tony sit down to unpack all the holiday chaos. Tony boldly declares his wife made the best turkey of all time—a bold claim indeed. In other Turkey Day-related news, Mike has cooked turkey in basically every form known to mankind… except fried. (Seriously, Mike. How??)

Tony also goes on a rant about the fall time change, starts finally sorting the mountain of sports cards he inherited from his dad, and discovers that his OCD has very clear opinions about what belongs in the Bears Pile, the Hall-of-Farmers pile, and the “How is this not worth more than three bucks!” pile.

We talk man caves (yes, the studio counts), Stranger Things returning, Tony’s daughter binging Harry Potter, and that one year Tony didn’t serve turkey at all—still unacceptable, Tony.

From there we spiral into turkey brines (not literally), how COVID feels like it was 50 years ago, and how impossibly fast everything is changing—nanotech, AI, ChatGPT… the whole “what is happening to reality” vibe.

Also covered:
• Rich gamers who just straight-up buy power
• Tony raging at video games that demand too much thumb dexterity
• Couch Guy sightings (rare, but real)
• Being a forty-something trying to lose weight during holiday season
• Mike doing CrossFit occasionally, which is definitely not how CrossFit works
• Nick, the giant hard-dribbling basketball terminator
• Tony’s IT coworker who eats raw ground beef daily and somehow looks like a Marvel character
• A surprisingly deep dive into which meats you can technically eat raw (but… why?)
• And finally: Florida now has Nile Crocs and wild macaques, because Florida refuses to be out-weirded by anyone.

Another classic Merry Chaos episode. Enjoy.

Cheers!

Episode 254 – The Mystery Guest (…And Tony Didn’t See It Coming)

December 03, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Community, Conversational, Denver, Entertainment, Family, Music, Podcast

Mike told Tony on the last episode that he was going to bring a surprise guest for the next pod—turns out it’s the one and only Jordan Yewey, who’s been secretly listening to Huckleberry Surprise on repeat while recording her own album. Naturally, she shows up ready to interrogate Tony about his songwriting origins, his recording process, and whether loop pedals are actually magic (spoiler: they are, especially during a three-hour gig).

We wander into all the good stuff:
• The wildly different names families have for grandparents
• How Tony met his wife (Disney soundtrack swell not included)
• The highs, lows, and sideways spirals of creating music
• Musicians vs comedians and why comics can’t just recycle the hits
• Strange animals we can’t stop talking about
• Crows and their magical coloring
• And the biggest shock of the night: Jordan has NEVER seen Tombstone. WHAAAAAAAAT.

A fun, free-flowing hang with a mystery twist, a ton of music talk, and at least one moment where Tony’s brain melts on air.

Cheers!

Episode 252: Toe Biters, Solar Hornets, and the Album Party That Shook the Room

November 09, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Community, Conversational, Denver, Entertainment, Music

This week, the crew dives deep into the afterglow of Tony’s album release party — the crowd, the food, the energy, and a wild mix of future collaborations with the incredible artists who shared the stage. It was one of those rare nights where people from every walk of life came together, and everything just clicked.

Then things get weird (as they do). We explore:
🪲 The Giant Water Bug a.k.a. “Toe Biter” — a creature that injects enzymes to liquefy its prey (and apparently delivers pain that’ll make you see other dimensions).
🕷️ The Sulfur Cave Spider Megacity — tens of thousands of spiders forming a web metropolis on the Albania–Greece border. It’s part horror movie, part miracle of adaptation.
🦈 The Sawfish — not a shark but a ray with a chainsaw face that detects prey with electricity.
🐝 The Solar-Powered Hornet — an actual insect that harnesses sunlight for energy. Nature’s first little bio-panel!
🐦 The secret that crows and ravens aren’t black at all — they’re rainbow explosions of color we just can’t see.
🌿 And the Tree Hoppers, the vibing, plant-talking insects that hang out with bees, ants, and assassin bugs like it’s a jungle soap opera.

It’s science, chaos, and celebration — the perfect post-party mix.

Episode 240: Crocs, Clones & Cosmic Chaos

July 20, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Community, Conversational, Denver, Life, Music, Podcast

Why are so many people just out and about on a weekday? Don’t y’all have jobs? 🧐
Meanwhile, some Australian kids just survived a full night clinging to a sketchy tree while a 13-foot croc waited patiently below like it had popcorn. 🐊🌳

We also talk about:

  • The absolute units of the animal kingdom 🐘🐋

  • Killer whales and why they could literally dunk on us 🐬💥

  • The deep sea: nature's pressure cooker of doom 🌊💀

  • Infinite universe theory — yes, somewhere out there you did marry your 6th grade crush 💍🌌

  • Ancient humans mixing it up with Neanderthals 🧠💘

  • A wild measles outbreak happening right now 🤒📈

  • Why Bernie would’ve crushed it if time wasn’t a thing 🧓🔥

  • And the truly bonkers ways our government is deporting people 🚔✈️

Your weekly dose of “wait, what?!” is ready to go.

🎧 Listen now or the killer whales will come for your WiFi.

Cheers!

Episode 236 – Friday the 13th with Joe Dub: Hypoallergenic Lies & 37-Year-Old Gum

June 15, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Conversational, Denver, Life, Music, Podcast

It’s Friday the 13th and things get weirdly nostalgic with our good friend Joe Dub! We dive into Tony’s unexpected reggae roots (shoutout P-Nuckle 🌿), the dangers of snuggling a definitely-not-hypoallergenic dog, and a dream so bizarre Tony can’t explain it... but definitely tries.

We get into the mind-blowing power of killer whales, the questionable logic behind shark tank diving, and some absolutely wild stats on what’s actually most likely to kill you (spoiler: not what you think).

Also: fermented foods, the magic of vinegar, and Joe Dub blesses us with vintage 1988 dinosaur trading cards — complete with original gum. Naturally, Mike eats the 37-year-old fossilized sugar slab like it’s a fine wine. Crunch level: gravel.

Oh, and by the time this episode drops, Tony’s dropping his first single of the summer! 🎶🔥

Grab your cards, your kombucha, and your irrational fear of sharks — it’s a good one.

Cheers!

Episode 232: The Box of Tickets: A Journey Through Time (and Lawn Poop)

May 24, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Comedy, Colorado, Conversational, Denver, Entertainment, Life, Podcast

This week, Mike busted out his legendary Box of Tickets — a treasure trove he’s kept nearly his whole life — and took us on a hilarious, nostalgic, and occasionally weird trip through time.

We sift through everything:
🎢 Six Flags Elitch Gardens, 2001 (Mike was 19, Tony was 21 — peak awkwardness)
💾 Remember Y2K panic? Yeah, we went there.
🎶 A concert from just last February popped up — ancient history, obviously.
👻 Ghost stories in old buildings.
🏒 University of Denver hockey games from 1995?!
🎬 Watching Spawn in the theater back in the day.

Oh — and Tony tells the absolutely insane story about the time his roommate invited homeless people inside… and one of them left a surprise on the front lawn. You’ll want to hear this one.

Buckle up for a memory-fueled ride with laughs, stories, and a dash of lawn chaos.

Episode 231: Pickle Juice, Parrots, and Flaming USBs

May 10, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Community, Conversational, Denver, Music, Podcast

It’s that time again—grab a Dr. Pepper, toss in a splash of pickle juice (wait, what?), and settle in for another chaotic ride with Mike and Tony.

Mike kicks things off with a true crime story straight outta Breckenridge: a coworker’s car got robbed at a conference, and someone made off with thousands in museum donations. Oh, and there were no security cameras—because of course there weren’t.

Meanwhile, Tony’s beefing with his third stapler of the school year. Middle schoolers: undefeated.

Tony’s also officially back in the studio recording his new album, so expect some upcoming social media action (and probably at least one video of him singing barefoot on a rug).

We also dive into parrot drama (yes, parrots): one was involved in a murder trial, another made a neighbor call the cops, and Mike reveals his very first parakeet experience.

Plus:

    •    The great gorilla vs. 100 men debate just won’t die

    •    The domestication of cats (and why they’ve never respected you)

    •    Tony’s new science podcast obsession

    •    Zombie apocalypse weaponry

    •    A preserved dinosaur from 10 million years ago

    •    Kids lighting computers on fire with pencils (WHY?!)

    •    And of course, the eternal struggle of teachers just trying to get basic supplies without selling a kidney.

Another unfiltered episode packed with curiosity, chaos, and questionable beverages.

Episode 230: Murder, Music, and a 43,000-Year-Old Shrub

May 03, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Conversational, Community, Denver, Entertainment, Life, Music, Podcast

This week, Mike announces his latest side hustle: custom 3D-printed guitar picks—because what every musician needs is a pick made by a guy who loathes geese. Meanwhile, Tony is officially back in the music game with an album dropping this fall and plans to hit the stage again (watch out, Denver!).

We go deep on TikTok drumming prodigies, ancient nightmare fuel like 5-foot scorpions and 42-foot snakes, and the terrifyingly casual way psychopaths and sociopaths roam the world. Also: how many people actually get away with murder? Seems like probably a lot.

Then it’s Gorilla vs. Human—a cultural moment we couldn’t ignore. We each take a side, and no, it’s not the one you’d expect. Plus: a 43,000-year-old shrub in Tanzania that’s still kicking, and a breakdown of the personality differences between Pan troglodytes and Pan paniscus (aka: aggressive war chimps vs peaceful sexual chimps). Trippy stuff!

It’s chaos. It’s curious. It’s The Mike and Tony Show.

Cheers!

Episode 228: Fat Trak - Adorable Tracks and Unreleased Heat

April 19, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Conversational, Community, Denver, Music, Podcast

On a snowy Friday night following an 84-degree day (only in Denver, right?), we welcomed back fan-favorite guest, producer, beatmaker, and all-around solid dude—Fat Trak! He brought along some seriously adorable music created by his students, plus he blessed us with two exclusive unreleased tracks he finished just the night before.

Tony admits he loves to freestyle to Fat Trak’s beats… so naturally, Fat calls him out to drop a verse on the spot. Did Tony deliver? Well, you’ll have to listen and judge for yourself. Let us know in the comments!

Fat also shares some stories from his recent trip to Japan, where he went digging for records—and explains how those finds are shaping his upcoming release. He opens up about the emotions fueling the project, and then plays a track that left us almost speechless. (C’mon, we’re a podcast… we’ve always got something to say!)

This episode was a ride—heart, humor, and straight-up heat. Fat Trak showed up and showed out, letting us get to know him even better in his second visit to The Mike and Tony Show.

Oh, and we managed to sneak in some listener-submitted Dad jokes, Fun Facts, and a few other surprises too.

Episode 227: Pyramids, Landlines & Paleo Predators

April 16, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Conversational, Denver, Podcast

Tony’s waist-deep in CMAS testing, but it’s a beautiful Saturday morning—so the mics are hot and the nonsense is flowing!

This week: Mike’s getting lean for summer, Tony’s wife is running a full-time renovation empire, and Mike took a little field trip to the History of Colorado Museum. That somehow led us into a deep dive on the joys of having multiple landline phones in the same house in the 1990s.

We also covered the Denver Nuggets’ firing of head coach Michael Malone, the sudden collapse of a 100-year-old, long-preserved Mexican pyramid (thanks, global warming), and had a chilling conversation about an extinct wolf the size of a grizzly bear.

All that craziness, Fun Facts, the Trump Tariffs, and much, much more!

Episode 226: "Rooted in Reality"

April 12, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Community, Conversational, Podcast, Politics

Episode 226: “Rooted in Reality”

In this episode, we sit down with Staff Sargeant Lacy McDonald and Raven for a deep and wide-ranging conversation that touches on everything from food sustainability to the state of education in America. Lacy shares powerful insights from his work with The Big Green Dow and Kimbal Musk, and reflects on the impact he’s had—and continues to have—on the people around him. Raven takes us into her world of homesteading in Humboldt, California, offering a unique perspective on living closer to the earth and questioning the fragility of modern society.

We explore what it means to live without modern luxuries, the importance of knowing where your food comes from, and the glaring lack of Black men in education. Along the way, we confront our own missteps—apologizing for getting duped by misinformation about ancient structures—and talk about the broader issue of how social media can distort the truth. We also touch on recent political headlines, including Trump’s alarming comments about a potential third term, and return to a central theme: the importance of learning and staying grounded in what’s real.

This episode is a thoughtful reminder of the power of intentional living, honest conversation, and critical thinking.

Episode 225: Sneakers, Pyramids, and Psychedelics

March 29, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Conversational, Denver, Life, Podcast

This week, we sat down for a Saturday morning podcast in the middle of spring break—evidenced by Tony almost sleeping through the recording. We talked March Madness, funny college team names, comfortable sneakers, and the mind-blowing discovery of a 2-kilometer-deep structure under the Pyramid of Giza. Naturally, this led us down a rabbit hole of what it all means for human history, leaving us with way more questions than answers. The only thing we do know for sure? Love and compassion is the way!

We also dove into wild weed and mushroom experiences and their possible connection to something bigger. Plus, how a few key differences between Plato and Confucius might explain cultural divides between China and the West. Throw in some dad jokes, insane internet videos, jellyfish, a shoutout to the very real Museum of Failure, Fun Facts, and much more.

Episode 224: Reggae, Inflation, and a Kangaroo in Colorado

March 23, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Community, Conversational, Denver, Podcast

Mike returns from Reggae Rise Up in Florida with wild stories, including a last-minute tire change that almost derailed the whole trip. We discuss the legendary Dave Foral of Dirty Heads—his art, his music, and his general awesomeness. Then things take a turn: museum glass so invisible it might be a conspiracy, the Department of Education getting deconstructed like a flimsy Ikea shelf, and why no major political figures seem to be scrutinizing the current presidency. Tony drops a shocking story about a beloved ex-student charged with attempted murder, we sing the praises of Khan Academy, and—wait for it—there was a kangaroo on the loose in Colorado?! Plus, crazy animal encounters, inflation rants, and all the usual nonsense.

Episode 223 – Gaming Drama, Gym Rats & Telepathic Wonders

March 01, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Colorado, Comedy, Conversational, Podcast

Mike has drama from The Last War Survival Mobile video game affecting his personal life. This sparks a deep dive into the wild world of pay-to-play gamers who drop thousands just to dominate. Meanwhile, Tony is back in the gym, but Mike flexes harder—because apparently, he has three gyms. The guys debate morning vs. evening workouts, the power of coffee motivation, and the benefits of shaking things up with novel exercises.

Also on deck: the mind-blowing Telepathy Tapes podcast, where non-speaking autistic individuals communicate through actual telepathy—no joke, this one is insane. They also explore the true definition of love (spoiler: it’s all about unity), the absurdity of AI-generated nonsense online, and how identity shapes art. Plus, perfect pitch, viral adults in superhero costumes, and—wait for it—people out here smoking mushrooms and ramen?! The world is officially off the rails.

Episode 222: Elon, Underground Tunnels, and Catching Your Own… You Know

February 28, 2025 by Mike & Tony Pearce & Dollar in Podcast, Colorado, Comedy, Community, Conversational

This week on The Mike and Tony Show, we kick things off with the daily struggle: waking up late, forgetting everything, and sprinting out the door like your hair's on fire. From there, we dive into Elon Musk’s involvement with the new administration, the speed of the internet (and how it determines your video game dominance), and the dark financial hole that is Roblox.

We also talk basketball, being the biggest guys in the friend group, and the undeniable truth that short people are way tougher than they look. Then, we salute the legendary Staff Sergeant Lacy McDonald before pondering an age-old mystery: how many cows are in a single hamburger? The answer may disturb you. Speaking of disturbing, we also tackle the weirdest confession ever made on live radio—a guy who has always caught his own poop before it hits the toilet. Yeah, you read that right. Plus, a look at why couples playfully roasting each other is actually healthy.

It’s a wild ride this week—hit play and hang on!
